1.Twitter

  • Teachers can create a class account for students with no student email addresses (important for younger students)

  • User accounts are managed entirely by the teacher.

3. KidRex

  • A safe and kid friendly search engine

  • Designed for kids to conduct Google searches

  • Google safe screens for sites that contain inappropriate material and filters them out from children's search results

  • Crucial to be teaching our students how to read and research on the internet

  • Helps students transition to the standard Google search engine

4. Mystery Skype

  • An education game, invented by teachers, played by two classrooms on Skype.

  • The aim of the game is to guess the location of the other classroom by asking each other questions.

  • The global guessing game that gets kids learning about geography, culture, and the similarities and differences of how children live all over the world.

5. Edmodo

  • An online networking application for teachers and students. Think Facebook, but in a safe and controlled environment appropriate for school

  • Free to use; remain private unless otherwise changed by the teacher

  • Site dedicated to connecting all learners with the people and resources they need to reach full potential

  • Integrated with Google Apps; Edmodo allows easy access to Google Drive or collaborating with Google Docs

  • A K-12 social learning community where teachers, students, and parents can connect safely and securely

  • Can be used for quickly creating groups, assigning homework, quizzes and much more

  • Engages parents; they can see what their children are learning and be up to date on what’s coming up in the classroom

6. Thinglink

  • Free digital tool that provides users with the ability to turn any image into an interactive graphic.

  • Students can add multiple “hot spots” on specific parts of an image and turn that image into a multimedia launcher.

  • Students can create interactive, multimedia reports that utilize their personal strengths

7. Minecraft: Education Edition

  • A version of the popular open world game, Minecraft, specifically designed for education that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving

  • A range of new Minecraft lessons are available for educators to use across subjects and age levels

  • Minecraft: Education Edition costs $5 per user per year

8. TodaysMeet

  • Free to use

  • Chat platform for classroom use for teachers and students

  • Platform to start conversations

  • Enable new discussions

  • Extends the conversation beyond the classroom or lesson

  • Gives all students in your class a voice

  • Great for improving participation and deepening students learning
